101.-(1) Officers on sterling salaries are, until further

notice, entitled while in the Colony, to have their salaries

converted into dollars at the exchange rates per pound

sterling shown in the following table:-

When exchange is at or over 4s. 4d..............

When exchange is at or over 4s. and below 48.4d.$10.30

(2) Subject to the approval of the Governor in each

case, the salary of an officer on duty or on vacation leave,

not combined with commuted or half-pay leave, in a

neighbouring country, will be paid to the credit of the

officer at his bank in Hong Kong at the same rate of exchang

as if he were resident in the Colony.

(3) Arrears of salary due in respect of leave for the

period not exceeding six weeks between the date of the last

payment in England or other country having a gold standard

and the date of arrival in the Colony are convertible into

dollars as specified in paragraph (1).

(4) The half salary payable for the period of the

voyage out to officers on first appointment (General Order

87) is convertible into dollars at the rate of $10.00 only

to the pound,
